FROM THE NURSE’S CORNER…
Marie Early, RN

Dear Parent/Guardian:

Welcome to Rosemont Elementary School. A registered nurse is on duty in the clinic each school day. As your child’s school nurse, I am looking forward to getting to know your child. The clinic is equipped to provide care for illness that occurs during the school day and first aid for school related injuries. It is neither equipped nor designed to care for out of school injuries or illnesses. The clinic is not intended to take the place of parent directed medical care. I will follow any doctor’s written instructions for treatment that may need to be done during school.

It is a Virginia Beach School Board regulation that any student required to take medication during school hours must have a written order form from the physician and signed permission from the parent on the “Physician’s Request for Administration of Medication” No medication will be given without this permission. This includes prescription and over the counter medications. Medication must be brought directly to the clinic by the parent/guardian or a responsible adult. The medication must be in the original prescription bottle with the student’s name, medication name, time and dosage on it. Please know that you can come to the clinic at any time to give medication to your child.

During the school year, all students have height, weight, and dental screenings done. All children’s hair is also inspected. Fifth graders are encouraged to take part in the scoliosis screening. Additionally all new students and all students in Kindergarten and grades 1,3, and 5 will have their hearing checked. All students will have their vision checked. This part is usually done at the very beginning of school. Should you not want your child to participate in the health screening, please call the clinic at 648-3607.

Please keep me updated on changes in health matters as well as any changes in home or work phone numbers. If you have any questions, please call me at 648-3607.

Thank you,

Sincerely,

Marie Early, RN
